7-5-08 - S'mores and Sparklers

July 4th weekend brings great traditions! Moo's favorite part was playing with sparklers and making s'mores by the campfire at our family reunion. She had a great day swimming and playing with her cousins E and N!

5-19-08 - "When the hog was trying to eat my shirt!"

Moo and I visited the new pet store in town today, Kara's Kritters. It was the grand opening. We wandered around and looked at all the animals: guinea pigs, hedgehogs, timber wolf hybrid, parrots, goats, and more. In one pen was a cute little pot-bellied pig named Babe. Babe was not for sale, but at one point convinced her owner to let her run around the store on her own. She was so cute! Moo went over to visit with Babe a little more after Babe was back in the pen. Moo put her hand down for the pig to sniff. It was at that point that Babe gave Moo's shirt a little nibble and Moo pulled her hand away. She giggled and thought that was the coolest thing - her favorite part of the day!

5-4-08 Snuggling and Matilda

Moo's said her favorite part of today was snuggling with me on our chair as we watched "Matilda." Such a great movie to share together!

5-3-08 - Cinderella Ballet

On Saturday, we went to the ballet, "Cinderella" with Moo's Brownie troop. We really enjoyed it. As we talked about it, we especially enjoyed the ugly step-sisters and the way they fought and walked.

4-26-08 - Flying a Kite

There are some things in life that I feel all children should experience while they are still young. Flying a kite is one of those things and that was Moo's favorite part of Saturday. We didn't plan this excursion which makes it even better. We were in Wal-Mart to pick up a few things and found ourselves next to the kites. Thinking of the sunny, breezy day, we decided it was the perfect day. We picked up two, one for Moo and one for her friend. Later in the day, we took the girls to the school yard (no power lines or kite-eating trees) and they flew the kites.

3-30-08 - Snuggling with Mom at Church

This evening, we headed back out to church so I could watch a show about the Bible and the book "The Secret." At one point, Moo and I were able to snag the couch in the cafe to watch the show. We snuggled together. She said that these few moments were her favorite part.

After listening to her favorite part, I was just amazed with her (as I often am). I told her that when she becomes a teenager, she will not want to snuggle and listen to me. She assured me that she would! I know it may not really be the way she says it will, but it's not impossible. It just warms my heart now to hear how she feels at this moment. Talking with her tonight reminds me of the mom in the Robert Munsch book, "Love You Forever," who sneaks into her grown son's house at night to rock him. "As long as I'm living, my baby she'll be!"

3-29-08 - Fishing with Uncle B.

Saturday's adventure for Moo was fishing with her cousins and Uncle B. The day before, my sis and her husband asked if they could take Moo fishing. I warned them that they would have her for awhile, since J and I already had plans. They said okay. Moo absolutely loved catching all the rainbow trout. The fish were really biting and they caught their limit early in the day. Fishing was Moo's favorite part.

3-24-07 - Playing Games with Uncle C

Moo's favorite part of today was playing games with us (mom and dad) and Uncle C. and his friend. We played Apples to Apples and Sequence.

3-23-07 - Easter!

When I asked Moo about her favorite part of 3-23, Easter Day, she said, "Easter!" When I asked which part, she replied, "Easter!" I guess that means the whole day and nothing but the whole day. In the morning, she reveled in her visit from the Easter Bunny. Two Webkinz - one from the bunny and one from us - were in her basket, along with the movie "Enchanted" and some candy. Next we went to church, where she got to sit with us instead of going to her class. Leaving church was inspiring as well. The parking lot was full, so full that we had to wait awhile to get out. We had carpooled with friends, so the wait was pleasant, as we discussed how great it was to have so many people hearing the Easter message. The day continued by eating with our friends and their parents (who got Moo another Easter basket) and attended the egg hunt in town. After the egg hunt, J and I played games with our friends as Moo and her friend played and then popped popcorn in an old-fashioned popcorn machine. A whole day with family and friends! No wonder she couldn't pick one favorite part!

3-1-08 - Dave and Busters

Going to Dave and Buster's is a favorite for our whole family. This time we took Grandma C. and she loved it too. Moo and I played "Deal or No Deal" and the coin machines. Grandma C. and J. won lots of toys from the claw machines, including a huge pink boxing glove from the HUGE claw machine. Moo walked out with a soccer ball, a night light, some play make-up, and some candy, along with a mini Care Bear and a soccer ball for her baby cousin. We ended the evening going to Luchita's and having a great Mexican meal with her Aunt B. and baby cousin. Such a fun treat!

2-27-08 - Art Class - alphabet animals

Moo's favorite part of today was art class. They used the alphabet to create animals. Her picture has a spider made with an "O," a butterfly with a "B," and another butterfly with the letter "i." I'm not sure what the blue thing is, but I do know that it's made with the letter "f"!

2-26-08 - Building a snowman

Moo's favorite part of Tuesday was building a snowman. The snow was not rolling well, so we had to pile it up and then carve out the head and abdomen. We used a flower pot for his hat and ello construction parts for the facial features and buttons. Twigs and glove finished off his arms. Hot chocolate and Girl Scout cookies finished up our snowy day afternoon. I must admit this was my favorite part of the day too!

2-24-08 - Making Rice Krispy Treats

We have a LOT of Girl Scout cookies in the house right now, but I was in the mood for Rice Krispy treats. So I had Moo help me make some. Even though they came out kind of dry, making them was Moo's favorite part.

2-23-08 - Dancing with Daddy

Tonight was the Daddy/Daughter Dance for Mikayla's school. J and Moo got to do the Hokey Pokey, the Cha Cha Slide, and the Chicken Dance. They even did a hula hoop contest! How could that not be her favorite part of the day?

2-7-08 - Chasing boys

Oh no! Chasing boys! It's started already! Well, not really. Moo said her favorite part of Wednesday the 7th was chasing "L" and "Z" at church. "L" is her cousin and "Z" is a boy in her class at school. I didn't ask her if she caught them. The chase is where the fun is!

2-2-08 - Geocaching - night cache

To start, I should let you know that geocaching is our family hobby that involves finding hidden containers, hidden all around, using a GPS. Tonight, we went to a night time event cache and that was Moo's favorite part of today. At the event cache we found 21 caches around two trails at the Wilderness Center. We used flashlights and our GPS to lead the way around the icy trails. Although it was around 3o degrees out, we were dressed for the weather and had a blast! To top it off, Moo won some arrowheads as a doorprize!

2-1-08 - "Drinking hot cocoa and spending time with you"

Moo knows how to melt her mama's heart! "Drinking hot cocoa and spending time with you" was her answer about her favorite part of this day. A day can't start out much better... both our schools were closed due to the icy conditions of the roads. We had pancakes for breakfast and went to the library in the town next to ours. As we left the library, we saw some friend in the soda fountain shop close to where we parked. We went in and visited and Moo got some hot cocoa. We met the guy who owns the shop. His grandfather was a pharmacist in that same shop along time ago. After we left there, we met up with J and went to my sister's to play cards. That's where Moo had her second cup of chocolate indulgence!

1-31-08 - "You Reading to Me"

Since Moo has learned to read, she reads to me or to herself much more than I read to her. Today, she brought a book to me called "Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood" by Mike Artell. It is a rhyming book, written with a cajun accent. ("dis" for "this", "jomp" for "jump", "t'inkin'" for "thinking") I looked at the book and decided that it was MY turn to read to her. I had a great time making up my own "cajun" accent and reading the wonderful spin on an old fairytale. That was my favorite part of the day... Oh yeah... and Moo's too!

1-29-08 - 100 Day Cereal Necklace

The 29th of January was Moo's 100th day of first grade. Her favorite part of the day was making a Fruit Loop necklace. She said it took her a while to make it, since she was making a pattern.

1-28-08 - Music and Gym Class

Music and gym class ranked as Moo's favorite parts of today.

1-27-08 - Taking a Nap

Sunday was a day of rest for Moo. She said that her favorite part was the big, long nap that all of us took in the middle of the afternoon!

Genesis 2:2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

1-26-08 - Taking a bath, Watching a Bratz movie

Relaxation was what Moo's day was all about. Recently she has been taking a lot of showers. Today she had time for a real sit-down bath. She said her favorite part of the day was the bath and watching a Bratz movie because both things were - in her words - "relaxing."

1-25-08 - Showing off her 100 Days Poster

Moo took her poster into school today. All the students told about their posters. She is really proud of hers.

1-24-08 - Art and Mrs. K

Moo's favorite part of today was going to art class and to Mrs. K's. Mrs. K teaches religious education. The students walk from the school to a church to listen to Bible stories and learn memory verses. Moo often states that these classes are her favorite parts of Thursdays.

1-23-08 - Making 100 Days Poster

This evening, Moo and I worked on her poster for the 100th day of school. We glued on candy hearts, as well as pictures of Hedgie, a Jan Brett character. We brushed over the candy hearts with a glitter art glaze. She is so excited to take it to school!

1-22-08 - Playing a song in music class

Moo's favorite part of today was playing a song on the keyboard in music class. A week ago, Moo got off the bus at a friend's house. While they were there, they must have been plinking around on the piano and found a tune that they liked. Today she played the tune for her class. She said that her music teacher told all the students to give her a round of applause!

1-21-08 - Visit to a pet store

Moo's favorite part of Monday, January 21st was going to a pet store and holding an Italian greyhound and a pug. Whenever I can, I take Moo into pet stores. I love them and so does she! Even though we are not in the market for a new dog, the employees told us that we could hold a couple dogs. They said that they like to have them well socialized. Both dogs were mega small and very active. The pug nibbled on Moo's chin! I love hearing her laugh the way she did with those little puppies bouncing all over her. She thought that it was absolutely hilarious when the one peed on the floor. I was absolutely relieved that it didn't pee on me!

There's Something Good Each Day!

Each day has many blessings. Some days it's easy to pick out tons of good things that happen. Other days, it takes a bit of thought. This blog is going to be about my daughter's "favorite part" of her days. This is a question I often ask her ask she goes to bed. It will be so much fun to jot her favorite parts down and have them to look back on later!
